Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms.
The health and physical fitness benefits of jazz dance include increased strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance. The athletic, full-bodied nature of jazz dance develops arm strength from floor work, leg strength from jumps, and core strength from coordinating the limbs.

This class is for first and second-year, single-subject jazz students. Dancers will learn the fundamentals of jazz. This class includes a warm-up, skill across the floor and in the center, and combinations. Ages 6+
